Join us for our first social MTB ride of the year — a relaxed, guided ride on Dirtopia’s singletrack. Intermediate+ rider level.

For just R100, your ticket includes:

Already have a valid Winelands permit?
You can join us for R50, which covers the coffee & croissant after the ride.

In honour of Meurant Botha, who sadly passed away on 13 September 2025, a brand-new trail loop he designed have officially opened on Sunday, 7 December with a guided mountain bike ride followed by a relaxed social gathering.
All the singletrack at Muratie was designed by Meurant, and this new loop includes two of the final trail sections he created.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the building and maintenance of the trails. The team has been working hard to keep Dirtopia Trails at Muratie in excellent condition.
A limited number of Muratie blended red wine bottles with the special “Meurant” label are available at the Trail Centre for R200. All proceeds go directly toward singletrack upkeep.

Guided Ride Details

Start: 07:30, Sunday from the Dirtopia Trail Centre (Muratie)
 Booking essential: dirtpass.co.za/product/tickets
Cost: R100 — includes day permit, guided ride, a boerewors roll, and a beer

The new loop adds 14 km to the trail network and is suitable for intermediate to advanced riders only. It is not recommended for novices or children. During the guided ride, this loop will be ridden first, after which riders may continue exploring Muratie’s well-marked trails.
E-bikes are welcome, but please note this is a genuine mountain biking experience—best suited for riders with adequate skills and fitness.

Meurant’s wife, Arina, and Dirtopia’s long-time trail and logistics assistant, Clinton, joins the ride. The new loop traverses neighbouring farms Knorhoek and Quoin Rock — a big thank-you to these landowners for opening their land to outdoor enthusiasts.

 Buffalo rides:

NO booking = no boerie or beer. You'll still pay for guiding & permit on the day! (Regional permits half price if you take boerie & beer or not!)

 Depending on what we ride, around 12km to 25km of proper MTBing, so riders must be capable i.e. singletrack riders. (intermediate +)  Ebikes are welcome. NOT for novices / children.
