With wildflowers blooming and the sun rising earlier, Dirtopia offers you more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Full Moon hike season is here and a couple of new events too!

 

The marked trails of the Simonsberg Conservancy are open 7 days a week, as long as you buy a permit: either online at dirtpass.co.za or at Dirtopia Trail Centres. The one at Delvera is open 7 days a week and the one at Muratie open on weekends from 8am. Bike rentals available too – it is better to book a size and type of bike in advance. Call 078 343 3572. Giant mountain bikes (second hand) for sale at extremely good prices – for view at the Delvera shop. Both Trail Centres sell various outdoor gear including Falke socks, Cape Storm clothing and Giant bike accessories.

1 September - Spring Trail Run @Knorhoek. Presented by FALKE

Let’s celebrate Spring on the beautiful trails in the Simonsberg Conservancy. Get your entry in, as entries are limited at this special venue. Great FALKE prizes to be won by our title sponsor.

 

Two distances on offer at this beautiful venue with routes only open once a year for this special Spring Trail Run. Pick between a 6km or a 11km. Entries will close Thursday, 29 August.

 

Knorhoek will have something to eat afterwards and of course wine for sale by glass, so join the fun near Stellenbosch and say cheers to Spring with friends and family.

22 September - Fundamental MTB Skills Clinic with David Hogan @Delvera

Now is the time to get those skilled mastered and gain confidence on your bike. Dave will host the clinic at Dirtopia by starting with a quick chat to run through some basic bike anatomy and theory around general bike handling, basic suspension and bike setup, cornering, braking, body position, jumps, drops, rock gardens and overall confidence improvement on the trail and then you head out on the trails to put the theory into practice.

 

R400 (R200 deposit) in total per person includes: a goodybag with sample of Squirt lube & wash, VAT, permit on trails etc.

13 & 14 September - FALKE Full Moon Hike @Delvera

Footwear specialist FALKE South Africa has teamed up once again with outdoor adventure experts, Dirtopia as the presenting sponsor of the popular full moon hikes at Delvera Farm just outside of Stellenbosch for another season set to start on the 13^th of September till May 2020.

 

Starting from the Trail Centre, it will take approximately an hour to reach the top.  Farm vehicles are available to transport children and elderly hikers to the start of the shorter 4,5km route at the famous Pepper Tree from where it will take about 30 minutes to the top.

 

Arrival at 16h00 no later than 17h30 to start the hike, the sunsets at 18h34 and the moon will rise at 17h59 on Friday and 18h53 on Saturday night. Remember to bring good walking shoes and torch / headlamp. The cost is the same as last season - R100pp & R50 for children under 10yrs (incl permit, marked route & map, optional shuttle to halfway mark)

Dirtopia has partnered with Dornier to create a magical evening at this beautiful estate near Stellenbosch. With title sponsor FALKE well-known for the support of the full moon hikes, this new Friday night Trail Run will complete a full weekend of activities in the beautiful month of Spring.

 

Fantastic live music to enjoy after your run of a 5km or 10km in the moonlight with food, wine (one glass included for participants) and coffee on offer. Prizes and lucky draw will of course include the wonderful Dornier Wine and FALKE socks! Bring your headlamps as it starts just before sunset with views of the Cape from the top of the valley.

20 October - Klapmuts Cup Trail Run @Delvera. Presented by FALKE

Who will win the Klapmuts Cup Trophy this year? 4 distances to choose from; 5km, 7.5km, 12.5km and 15km. Entries are open online.

 

31 October - Halloween Forest Night Trail Run @Muratie. Presented by Sportsmans Warehouse
